An ambulance tasked to an emergency in Ballybunion on Saturday, was unable to drive down to the Ladies beach, because of cars parked in designated emergency vehicle spaces.
The alarm was raised on Saturday afternoon, when a woman became ill in the public toilets on the beach.
An ambulance based in Listowel arrived in Ballybunion immediately.
However crew found themselves unable to drive down the slip way to access the patient, due to cars belonging to beach goers blocking both sides of the road.
Two paramedics made their way to the patient on foot and had to walk her back up to where the ambulance was parked.
A nurse who tended to the woman on the day, says there were signs and bollards clearing indicating that the spaces were reserved for emergency vehicles, but several car owners decided to ignore this.
She says that while the patient was not seriously ill on this occasion, the situation could've been a lot worse:
