Almost €2 million (€1,926,000) is to be paid to farmers in Kerry under the 2025 National Sheep Welfare Scheme.
Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon announced that over €16 million would be paid to more than 13,700 farmers nationwide.
1,235 of these farmers are in Kerry.
Minister Heydon says when combined with the CAP Strategic Plan (CSP) Sheep Improvement Scheme, it's an increase of 17.5% per ewe on last year’s combined payment.
The funding has been welcomed by Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Michael Healy-Rae, Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley, Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.
