Almost 160 commencement notices for new homes were issued in Kerry during the first seven months of the year.
A commencement notice must be submitted to a local building authority before construction work begins on a new building or major renovation project.
Nationally, during July 1,059 commencement notices for new homes were lodged; 157 of those were in Kerry.
16 such noticed were lodged with Kerry County Council in January, while 33 such notices were made in February, which was the highest in Kerry so far this year.
Kerry County Council received 17 commencement notices in March, a while a further 29 were lodged in April and in May the council received 17 commencement notices for new homes.
There were 32 commencement notices issued in Kerry in June and in July 13 such notices were issued.
Of the 157 commencement notices in Kerry, 112 were for one-off houses, while 20 were for apartments and the remaining 25 were scheme units.
