The Beef Welfare Scheme is available to Irish suckler farmers with active Herd Owner Status.
Eligible farmers can avail of a payment of up to €3,375.
1,195 farmers in Kerry applied to the Beef Welfare Scheme, the eighth highest in the country.
In total 39,741 farmers applied for the payment, with the highest numbers in Galway (3,019), Mayo (2,581) and Clare (1894).
The figures were supplied by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon, following a query from Fianna Fáil TD John Connolly.
