There’s been a 5% decrease in the numbers signing on Kerry’s Live Register in a month.
That’s according to figures compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
These figure show there were just under 6,000 people signing on in March.
During March, 5,983 people in Kerry signed on the Live Register.
That’s a drop of 5% when compared to March last year, when 6,030 people signed on in Kerry.
It’s also a 0.7% decrease when compare to the previous month; in February, 6,307 people signed on in Kerry.
Four of Kerry’s social welfare offices reported annual decreases.
Cahersiveen saw a drop of 46 to 406, while Killarney dropped one to 1,055.
In Listowel there was a drop of four to 971, and Tralee’s social welfare office saw a decrease of 43 to 2,388 for March.
Kenmare’s figure remained unchanged year-on-year at 343.
In Dingle the number of people signing on rose by seven to 370 and there was also an increase in Killorglin of 40, bringing the number of people signing on there to 450.
