There was a 32% increase in evictions in Kerry last year.
New figures from the Residential Tenancies Board show the number of terminations increased quarter by quarter last year in Kerry.
The RTB has released its quarterly update, covering to the end of 2025.
It shows the RTB received 488 notices of termination in Kerry across the whole year.
Notices of termination are served by landlords on tenants when they want to end a tenancy, and they must also be shared with the RTB at the same time.
In the first quarter of 2025, there were 94 notices received from Kerry, rising to 115 in the second quarter, rising yet again to 136 in the third quarter, before rising to 143 notices received in the fourth quarter of the year.
The number of evictions in Kerry last year marks a 32% rise from the 2024 figure, when there were 369 tenancies ended.
The RTB’s quarterly update also notes the cost of rent; it shows that rents rose by 4% for sitting tenants in Kerry between the middle of 2024 and the beginning of 2025.
However, in properties where tenants changed, rents went up by an average of over 16% in Kerry in that same timeframe.
Nationally, the number of evictions rose by 41% in the space of 12 months, while more than 60% of evictions in the fourth quarter of 2025 were because the landlord plans to sell the property.
