There was an increase of over 12% in the number of convictions for serious driving convictions in Tralee District Court in 2024 compared to 2023.
That's according to figures from the District Court and District Court Appeals from the area published in today's Irish Independent.
There were 487 convictions in 2024 for dangerous driving offense; driving without insurance, careless and dangerous driving, as well as drink and drug driving.
That's up 53 from the 434 convictions reported from 2023.
Nationwide, there was an increase of 23% in convictions for driving without insurance, and an increase of just over 1% for dangerous driving convictions.
Convictions for careless and drink driving were reduced by 5% each, while convictions for drug driving saw a 27% reduction.
However, Tralee had one of the higher rates of drink driving convictions at 123, according to the data.
