Johnny Hannon from Mallow has the Alpha-One antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) which has caused his genetic emphysema. The HSE said this summer, the State is not prepared to reimburse the cost of the drug he and other sufferers have been taking for several years, which has slowed down the emphysema. John fears he has got the drug for the last time.
