A Kerry County Councillor has won support at the HSE Health Forum South for his motion which seeks to introduce legislation regulating the use of vaping devices in workplaces and indoor public spaces.
Cllr. Mikey Sheehy's motion mirrors the approach taken with Ireland’s landmark smoking ban in 2004.
The motion was unanimously supported across the chamber, with strong backing from councillors who spoke in favour of tighter regulations to protect public health and air quality.
Speaking after the motion was passed, Cllr Sheehy expressed the importance of not undermining the gains made by the smoking ban by the increasing prevalence of vaping.
