The Jack Kennedy-ridden Kenisa Sport gave Gordon Elliott his second winner of the week when taking the opening two-mile mares’ maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan on Friday evening. In the KTDA colours, the 5/2 chance headed Gavin Cromwell’s 4/1 shot Kabylia after the final hurdle and went right away to win by five lengths, with a novice hurdle at the Galway festival now on the cards. The trainer was on the mark earlier in the week when the Leigh Roche-ridden Miss Gitana scored on the Flat at Tramore.
Phillip Enright shared a winner with local trainer Mark McNiff as the 9/2 chance Evans Secret took the three-mile one-furlong handicap hurdle at Sligo on Sunday. The six-year-old led on landing over the final hurdle and was well on top as he scored by two lengths from the Jimmy Barcoe-trained Spellacy’s Cross, another at odds of 9/2.
