Garvey's Tralee Warriors are delighted to announce the appointment of Gareth Moore as Head Coach for the upcoming 2026/27 Men's Super League season, with former Warriors captain Darren O'Sullivan joining the coaching staff as Assistant Coach.
Moore steps into the lead role having previously served as Assistant Coach with the Warriors from 2021 to 2025, working closely alongside former Head Coach John Dowling during one of the most successful periods in the club's history. During his time on the sideline, Moore played a key role in helping guide the Warriors to a memorable League and National Cup double in 2022, cementing the club's status among Ireland's elite basketball teams.
A proud St. Brendan's clubman, Moore took a break from his Warriors coaching duties last season to focus on youth development, leading the St. Brendan's Under-18 team to the National Cup Final in January. His side produced an outstanding campaign before finishing as runners-up to Dublin Lions in the decider, further underlining Moore's reputation as one of the region's most promising coaches.
Speaking on his appointment, Moore expressed his excitement at the opportunity to lead the Warriors into a new chapter.
Joining him on the bench will be one of the most recognisable figures in the club's history, former Warriors captain Darren O'Sullivan. A cornerstone of the team from their inaugural Super League season in 2016 until his retirement in 2020, O'Sullivan brings a wealth of experience, leadership and an unrivalled understanding of what it means to represent the Warriors.
O'Sullivan's playing career is forever etched into Warriors folklore, most notably when he captained the side to the Men's Super League title in 2019. In front of a packed Tralee Sports Complex, he famously lifted the trophy after the Warriors emerged victorious from a dramatic season-ending battle with UCD Marian, securing one of the greatest achievements in the club's history.
The appointment of Moore and O'Sullivan signals an exciting blend of coaching expertise, player development and championship-winning experience as the Warriors prepare for the challenges ahead.
Everyone at Garvey's Tralee Warriors wishes Gareth and Darren every success in their new roles and looks forward to an exciting 2026/27 season both on and off the court.
