East Kerry have won in the Divisional stage of the Garvey’s SuperValu County Senior Football Championship.
At Austin Stack Park in Tralee they got the better of St Kieran’s by 2-18 to 1-10.
East Kerry hit 1-1 without reply to start the encounter, the goal coming from Phillip Leary. It was 1-3 to no score after quarter of an hour. After Kieran's registered their first point David Clifford notched a second East Kerry goal. With 20 minutes on the clock it was 2-3 to 0-2. At half time it was 2-7 to 0-3.
Kieran's had 3 of the first 4 second half points to reduce the gap to 2-8 to 0-6. It was 2-11 to 0-9 entering the final quarter. When Adam O'Donoghue goaled for Kieran's the score stood at 2-14 to 1-10, with ten minute to go. East Kerry were never troubled, going on to win by 11.
North Kerry play the loser of this one next week in Round 2.
