Tralee Tennis Club is delighted to announce the official opening of its brand-new tennis courts, marking an exciting new chapter for the Club and for the sport in County Kerry.
The new courts represent a major investment in the Club’s future and in the growth of tennis locally. The exciting resurfacing project was made possible through generous Sports Capital Funding, and the work was carried out to an exceptional standard by Casey Courts, whose professionalism and dedication were key to the project’s success.
“It’s fantastic to see investment in facilities being upgraded to such a high standard. A high-end facility like this helps place tennis at the heart of inclusive, community-based activity. We look forward to seeing players of all ages and abilities enjoying these courts year-round. This is a great example of Sports Capital Funding being used to its fullest potential,” — Patrick O’Donovan, Minister for Sport
“As the only tennis club in County Kerry, Tralee Tennis Club holds a special place in the Munster tennis community. These new courts are a fantastic addition to the Club and a true testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in the project. Well done to all, and congratulations on this wonderful achievement,” — Áine Dunne, President, Munster Tennis
“Tennis really is a game for life and all ages. Our new courts will benefit the health and wellbeing of our members and the wider community, of all ages and abilities, for many years to come. To have been able to carry out this upgrade with the support of Sports Capital Funding is something that everyone at Tralee Tennis Club is extremely grateful for,” — Malcolm Willis, Chairman, Tralee Tennis Club
With four courts and a vibrant, enthusiastic membership, Tralee Tennis Club is preparing to host its third annual Open Tournament from 9–13 July. Players from across Munster and further afield have already signed up, and spectators are warmly invited to come along and watch competitive tennis being played for the first time on the new courts.
Founded over 30 years ago, Tralee Tennis Club has grown to a membership of 600 and offers a range of programmes for men, women, and children. The Club also runs dedicated initiatives for disability and visually impaired tennis, asylum seekers, local schools and other community groups, underscoring its real commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
Tralee Tennis Club looks forward to welcoming players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the upgraded facilities and continue growing the sport of tennis in Kerry.
