Ryan Baird a major doubt for start of Six Nations

Ryan Baird is a major doubt for the start of Ireland's Six Nations campaign.

Leinster have confirmed that the versatile forward is facing around three months on the side-lines due to a broken leg.

Baird suffered a suspected tibia fracture in Ireland's 24-13 loss to South Africa on Saturday.

Jamie Osborne will also be out for around four months with his shoulder injury but lock Joe McCarthy is going through the final stages of his recovery from a foot issue.

Connacht's Mack Hansen suffered a re-occurrence of his foot injury in the game against the Springboks.
