World Athletics has announced that Russian and Belarussian athletes have been banned from all upcoming events.
It means neither country will be represented at this month’s World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, nor the summer’s World Championships in Oregon.
Russian athletes have been able to compete as neutrals due to their federation’s ban by World Athletics since 2015, but that loophole has also been closed.
