Mid Kerry were victorious in the opening round of the Divisional stage of the Garvey’s SuperValu County Senior Football Championship.
At Austin Stack Park in Tralee they beat St Brendan’s 2-18 to 0-10.
Brendan's led 2 points to no score after 5 minutes. Mid Kerry were level 2 minutes later. It was 3 all after 11 minutes, Mid Kerry going in front by a point 3 minutes later. The 16th minute saw Mid Kerry go 4 clear courtesy of a Gearoid Hassett goal. It was 1-5 to 5 points after 22 minutes. Mid Kerry nabbed their second goal 3 minutes from half-time, Sean Cleary the scorer this time. At half time it was 2-7 to 0-5.
It was 2-10 to 8 points at the 3/4 stage. Mid Kerry built on their advantage, opening up a 2-16 to 8 points lead. They won by 14.
South Kerry and St. Brendan’s will meet next week in Round 2.
