Round 2 of the Joe McDonagh Cup saw Kerry beaten by Carlow.

They went down 3-27 to 0-17 at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

Carlow were on top early on and had the opening 4 points of the encounter in the first 6 minutes. Kerry's first point arrived in the 8th minute courtesy of Dylan Moriarty. Carlow responded with a point and a goal, that scored by Conor Kehoe. That made it Kerry 0-1 Carlow 1-5 in the 9th minute. 6 minutes later Carlow netted again, this time through Paddy Boland to make it 2-9 to 0-2. It was Kerry 0-7 Carlow 2-15 at half time.

The sides shared 6 points in the opening second half exchanges and the score stood at 2-18 to 10 points after 46 minutes. 5 minutes later Chris Nolan goaled for Carlow, leaving it 3-20 to 0-11. It was 3-25 to 14 points entering the closing 5 minutes. Carlow won by 19.
