Roscommon were no match for Kerry in the opening group game of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
The Kingdom won by 3-18 to 0-17 at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney.
Roscommon had the opening two points; Kerry were on terms by the 8 minute mark. It was 4 all after 16 minutes and 5 each at the 25 minute mark. A minute later a Sean O'Shea 2 pointer put Kerry in front. O'Shea repeated the trick later in the half as Kerry opened up a gap. At the break it was Kerry 0-11 Roscommon 0-6.
Kerry were ahead by 12 points to 8 thirteen minutes into the second period. Tony Brosnan then made it 0-13 to 0-3 before a David Clifford goal in the 50th minute made it double scores.
5 minutes later Paul Geaney netted for the Kingdom to make it 2-15 to 0-8. Geaney then turned provide to set up Gavin White for the third Kerry goal. Kerry won by 10.
