On a sunny evening in Thurles, Seán O Shea opened Kerry’s account for the day after 3 minutes from a dead ball.

Frees were the order of the day, with Sean O Shea popping over another before two Tipp points from play made it 1-5 to 0-3 after 25 minutes.
Tom O Sullivan added two points for Kerry before Tipperary won a penalty after Gavin White and Sean O Shea followed a man who was in on goal. The penalty was converted by Conor Sweeney and approaching the 30 minute mark, Kerry led 1-7 to 1-3.
Sean O Shea fisted over to give Kerry a 5 point advantage, 1-8 to 1-3 before another free from the Kenmare man meant Kerry led by 6 on 33 minutes.
Another point from play from Seanie and Diarmuid O Connor had Kerry 1-11 to 1-3 ahead at the half time break in Thurles.
Tipperary got the first score of the second half from the boot of Conor Sweeney before a David Clifford point from a tight angle cancelled it out almost immediately.
Evan Comerford made a fantastic save from a Stephen O Brien shot which had goal written all over it. 1-13 to 1-5 after 45 minutes in Semple.
Following 2 points for Kerry, the task was to get a lot tougher for Tipperary, as they were reduced to 14 men and Michael Quinlivan was sent off for striking out on Gavin Crowley on the 50 minute mark. Double scores at that point, 1-15 to 1-6.
Tipperary sub Jason Lonergan got a black card after a late challenge, making the possibility of a comeback even tougher for the final quarter, as Kerry led by 9 at the waterbreak.
The game began to peter out, with points from Paudie Clifford, Killian Spillane and David Moran meant Kerry ran out 1-19 to 1-8 victors on the night.
