Kerry's Ronan Walsh had 2 points from frees inside the opening 3 minutes. After Laois halved the deficit Jordan Conway made it 3 to 1 in favour of the Kingdom. Kerry led by 4 points to 3 midway through the half. With Kerry up by 5 points to 4 in the 23rd minute Michael Slattery was in on goal but his effort was saved, resulting in a point. Tom Doyle then put 3 between the sides. Back to back Laois points brought them within a point at 8 to 7 after 29 minutes. It was then 8 all. Ronan Walsh put Kerry a point in front and that brought the first half scoring to a close.
Ronan Walsh's 5th point of the match doubled the Kerry advantage at the start of the second period. 2 successive Laois points had them level. Laois then went in front for the first time but Ronan Walsh equalised for Kerry. After Oisin Maunsell nudged the Kingdom in front Laois made it 12 all after 47 minutes. Ronan Walsh, with his 7th score, had Kerry ahead once more. Michael Leane received a second yellow in the 50th minute, reducing Kerry to 14. Laois levelled two minutes later. After Gavin Dooley pointed Kerry in front Laois had two points of their own to go ahead. Laois led by 3 come the 60th minute; 17 points to 14. Kevin Goulding cut the gap to 2, then Ronan Walsh made it a 1 point game after 63 minutes. However, Kerry's hopes were hit when they picked up a second red card-Kyle O'Connor dismissed in the 66th minute. The resultant penalty was goaled, putting Laois 4 clear. Going into 3 added on minutes Ronan Walsh pointed for Kerry to bring them within 3. Deep into added on time Oisin Maunsell equalised for the Kingdom to make it 1-17 apiece. Laois went up the other end to point what proved to be the match winner.

All-Ireland champions Tipperary fell to a second defeat of the season in Division 1A of the Hurling League.
Limerick lead from start to finish and came out on top by 36 points to 21 at Semple Stadium.
In Division 1B, Wexford and Dublin played out a dramatic draw at Croke Park.
The Dubs went down to 13 men but equalised with a late point from Chris Crummey who left it Wexford 3-22 Dublin 4-19.
