Kerry were beaten at Down in the Joe McDonagh Cup.
In Ballycran it ended Kerry 2-19 Down 2-26.
It was 2 points apiece after 6 minutes. Padraig Boyle pointed the Kingdom in front at 4 points to 3 after 9 minutes but Down went up the other end and goaled. Amazingly Kerry then went back up the pitch and netted themselves, through Niall Mulcahy. By the 21 minute mark Down led 1-7 to 1-5. However, 3 successive Kingdom points-2 by Ronan Walsh and 1 from Niall Mulcahy-had Kerry in front. Kevin Goulding and Paudie O'Connor put over to send the Kingdom 3 clear at 1-10 to 1-7 after 28 minutes. Down drew level by the half hour mark at 1-10 each. It was 1-11 all at the break.
The sides were still level 7 minutes into the second half at 1-14 all. Down went 3 in front before a Luke Rochford goal had Kerry level again. After Kerry went a point in front at 2-15 to 1-17 a goal from sub Chris Egan had Down ahead. That made it 2-17 to 2-15 in favour of Down 18 minutes into the period. Down were 7 up with 5 minutes remaining and won by that margin.
