Kerry lost at Laois in the Allianz Hurling League Division 2 final.
The Kingdom were beaten at Laois Hire O'Moore Park by 3-18 to 0-13.
Kerry's Liam Og O Connor had the opening score a first minute point. However, Laois responded almost immediately with the opening goal of the encounter; Mossy Keyes the scorer. A Jordan Brick point halved the deficit. Laois' next score was their second goal, courtesy of Cillian Dunne. That made it 2-0 to 0-2 after 6 minutes. Laois extended their lead to 2-4 to 2 points after the first quarter. They were ahead by 9 at 2-6 to 3 points after 22 minutes. Kerry had 3 of the next 4 points as scores by Michael Slattery, Michael Leane and Ronan Walsh closed the gap to 2-7 to 0-6 after 27 minutes. Laois were ahead by 2-11 to 0-8 at the break.
Kerry's task was made even harder 6 minutes into the second period. A Laois shot from distance landed on top of Kerry keeper Conor Bohane, who dropped it into his own net. The Laois advantage was now 3-12 to 0-8. It was 3-13 to 10 points after 51 minutes. Laois were 13 ahead; 3-15 to 0-11; with 13 minutes to go.
