This weeks guest on Stand Out with Ian O’Connell is Ex hurler and manager Davy Fitzgerald. As a player, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. Fitzgerald began his hurling career at club level with Sixmilebridge. From his debut with the Clare senior team Fitzgerald was ever-present as a goalkeeper and made a combined total of 148 National League and Championship appearances in a career that ended with his last game in 2006. Davy went on to manage some very successful teams. He is a man with serious passion for the game of hurling and a true gent on and off the field. He is also a big advocate for Mental Health Awareness with his very popular TV show “Davys Toughest team”. We will be talking about Davys playing career and transitioning to management.
