Kerry beach goers and swimmers are being urged to exercise safety and caution in the water.
It follows a rescue at Banna beach yesterday afternoon, when a female swimmer got into difficulty.
Bernie Slattery from Ardfert and Mary McDonnell from Tralee were in the ocean at around 12.30pm when they heard calls for help.
With the assistance of Jack Duggan from Clahane, Tralee who was surfing, they were able to save the woman’s life.
Ms McDonnell, who works as manager and a lifeguard at Banna Beach Leisure Club, has appealed for people to be careful at sea.
She describes the rescue:
Speaking on Kerry Today Mary McDonnell says was surprised at the response of beach goers during the incident.
