The wife of convicted drug importer Nathan McDonnell is facing a charge of drug driving.
44-year-old Jacqueline O’Duffy of Ballyroe, Tralee, is accused of driving or attempting to drive a motor vehicle at Clogherbrien, Tralee, on 23rd August last year while exceeding drug levels.
Ms O’Duffy’s case was listed before Tralee District Court today, but she did not attend court herself and was represented by solicitor Pádraig O’Connell.
Mr O’Connell raised his concern that before the matter was ever in court, it was in the public domain, and there will be an issue with that.
Mr O’Connell applied for full disclosure, and the matter was adjourned to 24th June.
Nathan McDonnell was last year sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in the attempted smuggling of around 550kg of meth from Mexico to Australia, via Ireland.
