A Sinn Féin county councillor from West Kerry wants mileage rates and travel allowances for community healthcare workers to be increased.
Councillor Robert Brosnan raised the matter at the recent full Kerry County Council meeting, in light of the recent fuel price rises.
He argues that the situation is unfair because healthcare workers must travel huge distances between clients in rural areas.
