A status yellow wind warning will be in place across nine counties, including Kerry, later.
The alert for Kerry, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford will run from 9pm tonight until 9am tomorrow morning.
Met Eireann is forecasting gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour, while coastal flooding is possible.
