Warning of long delays on one of Kerry's busiest roads as repair works on burst water main continue

Motorists are being warned to expect long delays on one of Kerry’s busiest roads today as works to repair a burst water main continues on the N22.

The pipe burst at Knockeenduff on the Tralee to Killarney road this morning and Uisce Éireann is currently carrying out repairs.

Uisce Éireann says the works will continue until 8 o'clock tonight and customers in Castleisland and Tralee may experience a disruption to their supply or loss of pressure.

Traffic flow on the N22 is reduced to a single lane to facilitate the works and people are being asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.

Acting director for roads maintenance and operational services with Kerry County Council, Vincent Horgan says it's a bust road and there will be traffic delays on the N22 today:

Motorists may wish to consider an alternative route via the N70 and N72 through Farranfore, Castlemaine and Fossa, where practical.  Uisce Éireann says this is an advisory recommendation while repair works are ongoing.
