Visitor restrictions remain in place at University Hospital Kerry in an effort to curb the spread of the flu.
The HSE South West says these restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible.
These restrictions at University Hospital Kerry include limiting visitors to one per patients per day with that visitor allowed to stay for a maximum of 15 minutes.
Visitors must wear surgical masks and use hand sanitiser, and there is no visiting outside of visiting times which are daily from 2pm to 4pm or 6pm to 8pm.
The HSE South West is reminding people not to visit any patient at UHK if they are feeling in any way unwell – for example a temperature, runny nose, cough or any diarrhoea or vomiting.
The HSE says the restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible and certain compassionate exceptions will be made on case-by-case basis, by contacting ward staff in advance.
In the maternity ward, one birthing partner or visitor will be facilitated. This includes in the antenatal ward, delivery suite, postnatal ward and gynaecology ward. Children are not allowed to visit. Both parents will be facilitated on the neonatal ward.
UHK manager Mary Fitzgerald says flu rates in the community continue to increase and they need to continue visitor restrictions at UHK as part of efforts to keep patients safe.
She thanked the public for their understanding and reminded people it’s not too late to get their flu vaccine.
