Valentia Observatory in South Kerry has set a new record after temperatures rose to 30 degrees yesterday.
Met Éireann says this is a provisional recording and the previous record for Valentia was 29.8C recorded in August 1955.
This comes as Kerry comes under another yellow alert for high temperatures today.
The warning kicks in at 1pm and will run until 7am Wednesday, with temperatures expected to be in excess of 27 degrees during the day and they’ll be above 15 degrees at night.
A separate heat advisory from Met Éireann also continues nationwide until Friday.
