Valentia hospital receives overall positive review from health watchdog

Valentia hospital has received an overall positive review from the health watchdog.

HIQA conducted an unannounced two-day inspection of the 22-bed facility in February.

The Health and Information Quality Authority assessed the hospital against 19 regulations, and found it to be fully compliant with seven standards and substantially compliant with a further ten.

Inspectors found the facility was not compliant in two areas - written polices and procedures and fire precautions.

In response, Valentia Hospital said they would increase the frequency of fire drills and update their policies to reflect the report's recommendations.

Residents at the facility said that they were very happy there and provided with an excellent level of care.
