Construction has officially started on the upgrade at a sightseeing point with spectacular views in South Kerry.

The €2 million upgrade to the Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Point at Bray Head in Valentia Island will help restore and conserve the old signal tower, which dates back over 200 years.

Bray Head is one of 187 discovery points along the Wild Atlantic Way, each established to showcase areas with the most spectacular views and unique historical sites on the west coast.

A new viewing platform will offer visitors stunning views of the Skellig Islands and South West coast from a new concrete spiral staircase in the old signal tower.

The project will also include upgrades to the access road and car park.
