Works are expected to begin early next year to replace a water main in Tralee which has flooded homes and left thousands without water twice this year.
10,000 Uisce Éireann customers were affected by the burst water main in Lisloose, and three houses in the Shanakill estate were flooded.
Water supply has now been restored to the areas of Tralee affected, as crews have repaired this latest burst.
Uisce Éireann says it’s aware of the situation in Shanakill and acknowledge the impact on affected customers.
It says it’s committed to addressing the underlying issues, and a priority watermains replacement project is at design stage.
Uisce Éireann says once this stage is complete and following all necessary regulatory and statutory processes, works are expected to begin in early 2026.
The same water main in Lisloose burst back in March, affecting water supply to around 10,000 as well and flooding seven homes in Shanakill.
