Uisce Éireann is appealing to members of the public to report leaks and conserve water as demand rises in Kerry.
Eoin O'Connell is water treatment and network operations manager for Kerry with Uisce Éireann.
He says the recent spell of hot water has put pressure on supplies with demand in Kerry gone up by between 10% and 20%.
Mr O’Connell says raw water sources are holding their own, but the treated water supplies are under pressure.
As a result of high demand, Uisce Éireann introduced targeted nighttime restrictions to protect daytime supply for homes and businesses around the county.
Eoin O'Connell is asking people to report leaks and to conserve water, saying it will help build supplies if everyone plays their part:
Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann says essential night-time restrictions are required at the Knockavota Water Treatment Plant in Milltown.
They say this is to protect the day-time supplies and restrictions will be in place from 3pm today until 8am tomorrow.
The utility says customers in Calinfercy, Kilderry, Tinnahalla, Stealroe, Ard na Greine, Banshagh and Kilburn may experience low or reduced supply.
Uisce Éireann says to support impacted customers, a water taker is available in Ard na Greine Milltown; customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Further restrictions will be in place in other parts of mid-Kerry from 9 o'clock tonight.
