Two fashion jewellery shops in Kerry will continue to trade as usual despite their parent company going into administration.

Tween jewellery and ear-piercing retailer Claire's has appointed joint administrators, Will Wright and Chris Pole of Interpath Advisory.

Claire’s has 2,750 shops worldwide, including 15 in Ireland.

In total, around 2,150 jobs are at risk.

Claire's Killarney store is at the Outlet Centre on High Road, while its Tralee store is at Unit 21, Manor West Retail Park.

The administrators say they intent to operate all stores for as long as possible, while they assess options for the company, including the possibility of selling the business as a going concern.

Staff will continue in their rolls during this period.

It follows the announcement last week (6 August) that Claire's Holdings LLC in the United States had declared bankruptcy for a second time in seven years as a result of slowing consumer spending there.
