Tusla social workers dealt with over 2,500 child protection and welfare referrals in Kerry last year.
That’s according to the Annual Report for Tusla – the Child and Family Agency, for 2024, released today.
Last year, Tusla social workers dealt with over 2,500 child protection and welfare referrals, while over 2,000 young people in Kerry were referred to family support services.
174 young people were in care in Kerry last year, with 151 young people in foster care and 21 in residential care.
87 young people in Kerry were in aftercare services last year, while 394 cases in Kerry were open at the end of the year.
91 foster carers were on Tusla’s panel in Kerry at the end of last year, while Tusla employed almost 450 people in total across the southwest in 2024.
