The trial will continue in Tralee Circuit Court today of a man accused of sexually assaulting a child.
The man, who cannot be named by order of the court, is standing trial on five counts.
The jury of six men and six women were sworn on Tuesday, before Judge Ronan Munro.
The man, who’s in his 50s faces five charges of sexual assault of a child in Kerry, on dates between January 1st 2017 and December 31st 2019.
It’s alleged that between these dates, he sexually assaulted a girl on two occasions at his residence, once at the residence of the complainant, once at an address elsewhere in the county and on one occasion at a beach in Kerry.
The court heard the complainant in the case was aged between 8 and 11 years old at the time of the alleged offences.
Appearing before Tralee Circuit Court, the accused, who was aged in his 40s at the time, pleaded not guilty to all charges, through an interpreter.
A jury of six women and six men was sworn in, and proceedings opened on Tuesday afternoon.
The trial, before Judge Ronan Munro, is expected to last a week.
