Motorists are being advised to avoid the main Tralee to Kielduff road after a vehicle went on fire.
No injuries have been reported, but gardaí and the Kerry Fire Service are at the scene.
The road between Tralee and Kielduff, which passes the old North Kerry landfill site at Muingnaminnane, will be closed for at least another hour, while the vehicle is removed from the scene.
