Tralee’s big win at the SuperValu Tidy Towns competition today has been described as a big step forward for the town.
Tralee was named the Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban Centre at this afternoon’s awards ceremony in Dublin.
Carrick-on-Shannon in Leitrim was crowned the overall winner of the SuperValu Tidy Towns competition this afternoon.
Tralee enjoyed huge success at today’s ceremony.
The town was named the tidiest large urban centre in Ireland, and won both the Regional Award for the South-West and Mid-West, and the Circular Economy Award.
Tralee also finished second overall in the Town Centre First Award.
There was also success for Castlegregory Tidy Towns, which won the Leave no Trace Award, the Village/Small Town category in the Climate Action Award, and the regional prize for the Local Authority Pollinator Award.
Portmagee Tidy Towns was named the regional winner for the South-West and Mid-West in the Waters and Communities Award.
Kenmare won the national SuperValu Inclusive Communities Award, and Sneem Tidy Towns won the Gardening for Bats Design Space Award.
Within Kerry, there were gold medals for Sneem, Kenmare, Listowel, Killarney, and Tralee, and there was a silver for Portmagee.
