Tralee has received €100,000 under the 2025 Historic Towns Initiative (HTI).
Fourteen historic towns will share €2 million in funding under the initiative to promote heritage regeneration, support traditional building skills, and improve streetscapes through façade enhancement.
The Tralee grant has been earmarked to support building owners on Castle Street in carrying out conservation upgrades, such as repairing historic elements of their buildings.
The Heritage Council says the €100,000 will also enable the development of vacant buildings, particularly their upper floors.
The funding has been welcomed by Minister Norma Foley and Senator Mike Kennelly, with the Minister describing the funding as a "welcome boost" for Castle Street and a "well-deserved recognition" of Tralee’s rich history and heritage.
She also congratulated Tralee Chamber Alliance and Kerry County Council for their work.
The grant follows a 2024 report commissioned by Tralee Chamber of Commerce.
The HTI is a joint initiative between the Department of Local Government and Heritage, and the Heritage Council.
