The Mayor of Tralee has called on people to reconsider their shopping habits in order to support the town.

Labour Cllr Terry O’Brien made the remarks while proposing a motion at the recent Tralee Municipal District meeting.

He says those ‘giving out’ about the town need to reflect on where they buy from.

He said shopping online ‘from the kitchen table’ isn’t doing much to support local business in the town centre.

Cllr O’Brien also said greater incentive needs to be given to business owners who are considering opening their own shops.

The motion was seconded by Cllr Mikey Sheehy.
