A Tralee humanitarian has been nominated for the Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Award.
Joan O’Regan is a longtime volunteer with the Cork-based NGO Brighter Communities Worldwide and is being recognised for her work supporting communities in East Kenya.
Joan received her nomination at a ceremony held at the Royal Irish Academy, Dublin.

She has dedicated over two decades to volunteering, helping to deliver programmes in health, education, water, economic and female empowerment.
Ms O’Regan says volunteering overseas has been life-enriching and life-affirming, and she urged anyone who can to get involved.
