Tourism industry in Kerry calling for government to drive business costs down as war affects bookings

The government should prioritise making Ireland's tourism industry competitive by keeping business costs down.

That's according to the CEO of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation, Eoghan O'Mara Walsh.

He says there are early signs that the war in the Middle East is causing a softening in all holiday-maker markets:

Meanwhile, some in the tourism sector in Ireland are hopeful that Ireland will benefit from its reputation as a safe destination.

Chair of Kerry Tourism Industry Federation, Pat O'Leary also thinks the rising price of flights may encourage domestic tourism.
