Three Kerry groups are to benefit from music education grants.
The Non-Mainstream Music Education Bursary Scheme provides cash grants to support music education and music initiatives that cultivate young talent.
The Diarmuid Ó Catháin (Ceolann) Cultural Centre in Lixnaw had been allotted €3,000.
€2,000 will go to Listowel/Duagh Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ), while Tralee Pipes and Drums, formerly known as the St. John's Pipe Band, will get €1,000.
37 organisations nationwide, which provide year-round access to local music education, were awarded the grant by the Department of Education and Youth.
The announcement has been welcomed by Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae and Kerry TD Danny Healy-Rae.
