Temperature in Kerry in August was above its Long Term Average for month

The temperature in Kerry last month was above it’s Long Term Average (LTA) for August.

That’s according to Met Éireann’s latest climate statement, which shows nationally it was the fourth warmest August on record.

Valentia Observatory’s monthly LTA was 1.7 degrees above average, at 17.1 degrees Celsius.

The highest temperature recorded in the South Kerry weather station was 20 degrees - on August 16th.

It also recorded its highest monthly minimum temperature for the month since records began, at 11.2 degrees.

Meanwhile, nine dull days were logged at Valentia Observatory during August.
