The Taoiseach says tariffs of between 150% to 250% on pharmaceuticals from the EU would cause irreparable damage for companies.
US president Donal Trump threatened the Irish pharmaceutical sector with such tariffs when speaking to US media yesterday.
Last week a 15% tariff was agreed between the EU and the US, which is expected to come into force on Friday.
Taoiseach Mícheál Martin is in Cahersiveen today for the State commemoration of Daniel O'Connell.
He believes a deal has been done between the EU and US, despite Donal Trump’s comments.
