A status yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for Kerry and four other counties.
It will run from 3 o'clock this afternoon in Kerry, Clare, Galway, Mayo and Donegal.
The alert will be in place until 9 o'clock tonight - with Met Éireann warning of the chance of flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
