Landowners and the public are being asked to avoid all outdoor fires including campfires or barbeques in a bid to protect nature.

As the warm spell of weather continues a high fire risk warning has been issued for the whole country.

This risk exists in all areas where hazardous fuels such as dead grasses and shrub fuels such as heather and gorse exist.

Killarney National Park will operate a full fire patrol alert this weekend; these will include ranger, helicopter and drone patrols as well as volunteer fire spotters.

In a bid to protect nature, the NPWS is asking people not to light camp fires or barbeques.

Coillte is also asking people to have increased vigilance during this warning.

They are asking people not to light fires around forestry, and if they see a fire to contact 112 and report the fire and its location.
