A person of interest remains detained in Jordan, where a court ordered his detention for 15 days.
It’s believed that a person of interest in the case left Ireland in the hours after Ms Carney’s death.
The Ministries of Interior and Justice in Jordan has released a statement on the matter, confirming he is detained in the country.
The statement says the Jordanian security authorities received a report from the Irish authorities concerning the murder of an American woman in Ireland.
The statement said the security authorities there immediately launched search and investigation operations, and tracked the man after locating his residence and whereabouts.
He was then arrested, and his statement was taken according to standard procedures.
This man was referred to the Public Prosecutor of the Major Criminal Court in Jordan, which initiated an investigation and ordered his detention for 15 days.
He is detained at the Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre in Jordan, while that investigation continues.
