The State has been ordered to award a Kerry TD 50% of legal costs following an unsuccessful challenge over Super Junior Ministers.
Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly and with Paul Murphy of People Before Profit–Solidarity brought separate challenges claiming the attendance of super junior ministers at Cabinet was unconstitutional.
Both challenges were dismissed by the High Court in December, however arguments were made for their legal costs to be awarded.
Deputy Daly stated that "the challenge was a matter of public interest and an issue which has been questioned for years".
On Friday a three-judge court said proceedings gave rise to a "rare and exceptional circumstance", and both deputies Daly and Murphy should be awarded a proportion of their legal costs.
